Gallimimus was a fast-running dinosaur with very long legs and a long beak. It was a fast, agile dinosaur, probably running about as quickly as an ostrich , which can run up to 43 mph (70 kph). This ornithomimid (ostrich-like dinosaur) lived during the late Cretaceous period, about 75 million to 70 million years ago.

Anatomy: Gallimimus was bipedal; it walked on two long legs. This light-weight dinosaur had a long neck, large eyes, and a small, light skull. Gallimimus was about 13-20 ft (4-6 m) long, roughly 6.3 ft (1.9 m) tall at the hips, and weighed about 970 pounds (440 kg).

Diet: Gallimimus may have been an omnivore, eating small animals, insects, eggs, and some plant material.

Fossils: Several Gallimimus fossils have been found in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.
